There’s no doubt that the Chase Freedom is one of the most popular reward credit cards of the last decade. With no annual fee, it’s been Chase’s entry level rewards card that you will find in a huge percentage of American Wallets. Most people just seem to like its formula of offering 5x rewards on up to $1,500 spent each quarter at featured merchants, and 1x elsewhere.

More recently, Chase followed up on its success by introducing the Freedom Unlimited, which features unrestricted 1.5x rewards on all purchases. This is a great offer, but there’s much more too it than that.

Take a look at these three outstanding features of the Freedom Unlimited that few people know about:

1. Move your rewards to other Chase cards.

The Freedom Unlimited offers 1.5% of your purchases as cash back, but that’s not all. Your rewards are received as Ultimate Rewards points, which is a loyalty program common to several different cards issued by Chase. When you only have a Chase Freedom or Freedom Unlimited card, then you can redeem your points for just one cent each as statement credits, gift cards, travel reservations or other options.

If you have another Chase card that participates in the Ultimate Rewards program, then you can transfer the points earned by your Freedom Unlimited to other card such as the Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire Reserve, or the Ink Business Preferred. Those other cards can offer you valuable ways to redeem your points that the Freedom can’t, while other cards have the ability to transfer your points to miles with seven different frequent flyer programs or points with four different hotel programs. When you are able to use these points and miles for expensive award flights in business or first class, or luxury hotel stays, it’s possible to realize several cents in value per point redeemed.

Another way to get more value from your Ultimate Rewards points is to redeem them directly for reservations made through the Chase Ultimate Rewards travel center. While the Freedom card offers one cent point towards travel reservations, the Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred let you redeem your points for 1.25 cents each towards airfare, hotels, car rentals, and activities. Furthermore, the Sapphire Reserve gives you a whopping 1.5 cents in value per point redeemed for travel reservations.

Therefore, it’s ideal is to have both the Freedom Unlimited and another Chase card. Then you can always earn 1.5 points per dollar from the Freedom Unlimited, or more when bonus points are offered by your other card. Also, all of your points can be transferred to airline miles or hotel points, or be worth 1.25 to 1.5 cents each towards travel reservations.

2. Use the Blueprint program.

Another outstanding feature of the Chase Freedom Unlimited is the innovative Blueprint program. Blueprint is a free feature that allows you to save money on interest charges by paying some purchases in full while carrying a balance on others. Blueprint also contains powerful budgeting and goal setting tools. For example, you can tell it when you want to have your debt paid off by, and it will tell you exactly how much to pay each month to achieve your goal. Or, you can tell it how much you can pay each month, and it will let you know how long it will take you to pay off your entire balance.

3. Outstanding benefits.

The Freedom Unlimited is known for offering competitive rewards and no annual fee. But few cardholders pause to take a look at the valuable cardholder benefits it comes with. For example, it includes a purchase protection program that covers your new purchases for 120 days against damage or theft, up to $500 per claim and $50,000 per account. You also receive a price protection policy that will reimburse you for a price difference found within 90 days, up to $500 per item and $2,500 per year. Other benefits include extended warranty protection and return protection policy.

By understanding these three additional features of the Chase Freedom Unlimited, you can receive far more value from this card than you might have thought.
